Thania Benios joined JAX in 2024. Prior to JAX, Thania spent more than 17 years promoting basic science and translational discoveries at universities and non-profit organizations, including The Rockefeller University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and JDRF. Thania holds degrees in neuroscience, journalism, and science writing from Trinity College and Columbia University and is a member of the board of directors at PRSA.

Cara McDonough has worked at JAX since January 2021. Previously, she was a journalist, publishing essays and features for outlets including The Washington Post, The Boston Globe and the New Haven Independent. She began her writing career as a reporter at a weekly newspaper in North Carolina, where she covered town news, community events and had a regular column.
