Webinar: Everything but the Experiment: Tips for Working with Diabetic Mice

Genetic alterations predispose mice to develop human-like diabetes phenotypes. However, overlooking the environmental factors that influence those phenotypes can confound research results.  Join us as we discuss the following topics:

  • Ways to optimize housing conditions in your facility
  • Strategies for minimizing handling-induced stress
  • Research design tips for limiting data variability

Dr. Janine Low-Marchelli earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she studied angiogenesis in breast cancer metastasis with Dr. Jing Yang. Janine continued as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Catriona Jamieson, also at UCSD, to examine extracellular matrix contribution in leukemic stem cell quiescence. Janine has broad experience working with immunodeficient mouse models for cancer with both basic and translational research goals and a keen interest in implementing active learning strategies in science education.
