Tell us a bit about yourself and your background. Where you grew up, where you live now, family and pets… anything goes!

I'm originally from Texas, but grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and am very fond of the three-river city! My family used to vacation up to Bar Harbor when I was younger and I fell in love with the quaint coastal town. Being from Pittsburgh, Rachel Carson has been such a big inspiration in my life and her observational musings, Edge of the Sea, remind me of the many mornings I've spent wandering in tide pools looking for sea urchins.

What hobbies or interests do you enjoy in your free time?

I often spend my summer weekends cooking meals with fresh produce from the farmer's markets, shucking local oysters, and spending time with loved ones. Spring is a wonderful time for foraging the first flush of mushrooms, periwinkles on the rocky beaches, and fresh fiddleheads. I also love walking in Acadia, rock climbing, watching anime, the world of Miyazaki, and meditating.

Tell us about someone in your life who inspired you or helped you become who you are today.

The words of Rachel Carson, Mary Oliver, and Pema Chödrön are a constant inspiration for me and how I see and move through this world. My biggest inspiration and expander is my dearest mom.

What motivates you or helps you feel fulfilled?

I think I had to learn it the hard way! There is this belief that more is better, but slowing down and understanding my needs, especially during this time, has created such a beneficial baseline for motivation and fulfillment. It's as simple as spending time in nature, meditating by the ocean, or calling a friend that stokes the flame of my own moving castle.

What do you
do really well? Is there anything you wish you could improve?

If chronic illness has taught me anything, it's making sure I live life to the fullest now. I show up as my true authentic self, I love to help and connect with others, and I will always ask questions! I believe fostering a sense of curiosity is so important in my personal and professional life.

What’s an accomplishment you are really proud of? Is there something you want to do, but haven't done yet?

I'm really proud of getting accepted as the reproductive sciences technician for the embryo transfer team! I'm very new at JAX and am looking forward to this exciting opportunity!
